Fiona obtained her degree in Physiotherapy at the University of East London after working for a number of years in social care before realising her passion for stroke rehabilitation. With over 15 years experience in neurology most of Fiona’s working career has been NHS based with 12 years specialising in stroke working on a dedicated stroke rehab unit. Alongside the NHS, she has worked in private practice for a number of years rehabilitating those affected by Stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions in clients own homes. Fiona is ‘Bobath’ trained, using the ‘Bobath’ concept and specialist handling to focus on quality of movement, influencing neural pathways and providing goal centred treatment with a functional approach.

In 2014, Fiona became a qualified Pilates instructor and in 2017 furthered her scope of teaching by training in Pilates for pelvic floor dysfunction. Using her knowledge of Pilates and pelvic floor retraining she is able to offer further scope of practise to neuro rehabilitation and can also draw on these additional movement skills to work on core strengthening, balance, posture and upper limb function.

Most recently, she has trained as a certified ‘IOSH’ moving and handling instructor delivering training to health and social care workers and uses these skills and knowledge to work with clients, family members and care workers on good practise of handling skills and equipment needs.

Fiona can also offer expertise on additional treatment options such as splinting, orthotics and the use of electrical stimulation.
